Hotel Ofelias — Barcelona

I love Barcelona hotels for their creativity and design flare, and Ofelias Hotel delivers on both. A small hotel with a kind of Barcelona meets Santa Monica style and a rooftop lap pool.

The rooms are comfortably modern without being austere, and most importantly — the beds are comfortable.

Daydreamer Winery — Naramata

Just up Smethurst Road from Nichol Vineyard deep in Naramata, BC is the little gem known as Daydreamer Winery. Run by the original winemaker at Therapy Marcus Ansems, this is a quaint spot reminiscent of a beachside surf shack. Notable wines include the Riesling and the Marcus Ansems Shiraz.

Liquidity Winery

While being a relative newcomer to the BC wine scene, Liquidity Winery in Okanagan Falls, BC has fast become one of the province's more endeared wine spots. Located adjacent to the revered Blue Mountain Winery, Liquidity chose their site well. A curated modern art collection adorns the property, and the view over Oliver Ranch Road and MacIntyre Bluff is a welcome vista over lunch at the winery bistro.

Burton Canvas Wheelie Suitcase

Luggage is something that many travellers may not put a lot of thought into, but for me, it can make or break a trip. I always have gear to carry, and there rarely seems to be one bag that does everything well.

The Hatch Winery — Kelowna, BC

When a winery bursts on the scene with so much fanfare we are skeptical...really skeptical. The Hatch birthed itself into the world with super cool labels, Pamela Anderson, and other glitzy showmanship that led us to believe that the wine would be shit. Well, we were wrong — it's not.

Things to do in Provincetown

Provincetown is very possibly the gayest place on the face of the earth, and I mean that in every sense of the word. Yes, the town has what seems like a predominantly LGBT crowd, so if you are horrifyingly homophobic this may not be the place for you, but it is also gay in the happiest of ways. Not once did I hear a car horn, or someone yelling angrily.

Little Engine Winery — Naramata, BC

Based around a crazy dream, Little Engine Winery strives to trump the critics and naysayers to be the little winery that could. Situated on Deadman's Curve just after La Frenz, and immediately before Red Rooster Winery and Ruby Blues, they certainly chose a high exposure location.

These are our picks after 10 years of living in this area and working with different clients in the wine industry.

The Falls Music Lounge — Nelson, BC

The Falls Music Lounge is the restaurant in the hotel that the overwhelmingly successful electronic music festival Shambhala built. Located in The newly renovated Savoy Hotel on Baker Street, this is a warm and classy space adorned with warm wood tones and Bose speakers dangling throughout the room.
